August 31, 2018<\/em><\/p>\n The study in question \u2014 \u201cIntestinal Metabolism and Bioaccumulation of Sucralose in Adipose Tissue in the Rat<\/a>\u201d Bornemann et al. \u2014 was published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health<\/em>.\u00a0 The objective of the study conducted by researchers at NC State University was to determine if sucralose is metabolized in the rat intestine with repeated dosing and to examine whether sucralose might accumulate in rat adipose (fat) tissue.<\/p>\n Sucralose has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in food since 1998. FDA reviewed more than 110 safety studies in approving the use of sucralose.
